The San Francisco Bay Delta region of California is located at the confluence of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers. The water that flows through the Delta supplies drinking water to two-thirds of California's population, provides irrigation water for farmlands, and sustains a diverse array of fish and wildlife species including several endangered and threatened species. In addition, the Delta also supplies cooling water to two power plants with combined generation capacities of more than 2,500 MW.
