CalEPA Workshop on Cap & Trade for AWWEE Members and Colleagues

  • February 23, 2011
  • 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM
  • 621 Capitol Mall, 18th Floor Sacramento

Our friends from CalEPA are conducting a half day workshop on Cap & Trade for AWWEE members and colleagues:

  • Secretary for Environmental Protection, Linda Adams,  will open the workshop to share her perspectives as to how climate policy in California has evolved into today’s Cap & Trade regulation.
  • Assistant Secretary Lauren Faber will then provide an overview of the fundamentals: Just what is Cap & Trade? What does California's program look like? How does it fit within national policies and markets? Who needs to do what? Lauren will also provide content for the challenges and opportunities of rolling out a California Cap & Trade policy while the nation watches, and how California is working in concert with WCI.
  • Lauren will be joined in these discussions by Brieanne Aguila, ARB's lead on offsets policy, who will talk about the critical role of offsets in the California Cap & Trade system.
  • La Ronda Bowen, the ARB ombudsman, will also join us to answer questions about the potential impacts of Cap & Trade on various industries, how ARB engages with businesses, and the business opportunities with regard to climate change overall.

Time is 9:30 am to 2:00 pm with optional networking afterwards. Downey-Brand LLP has generously offered to provide space for this workshop at their office: 621 Capitol Mall, 18th Floor Sacramento.
