California’s renewable market is maturing, with increased participation from larger and more experienced developers.  In the past years small to mid-scale distributed solar photovoltaic projects have emerged as a successful way for utilities to fulfill their targets.  Please come learn from and network with  California’s experts as they discuss the future of distributed generation, the challenges we face on the way to 33% renewable energy, and what it takes to meet this ambitious goal.

Panel:

Moderator: Jennifer Monteleone, VP Strategic Marketing, SPG Solar- Jen Monteleone is the vice president of strategic marketing of SPG Solar. She originally got her start in solar 5 years ago at SunPower with the goal of significantly improving the customer experience of purchasing a solar power system and educating the masses on renewable energy. She helped build SunPower into a the leading technology provider of global solar solutions across all channels of residential, commercial/industrial, utility and distribution segments. Her strategic focus on blending policy, go-to-market strategies and revenue/pipeline development have helped the companies she works for get to their next level of growth. Prior to renewable energy, Jen managed BananaRepublic.com and helped launched the first online banking platform at Wells Fargo.

Policy Representative: Jaclyn Marks, Policy Analyst, California Public Utilities Commission- Jaclyn Marks is a senior policy analyst at the California Public Utilities Commission and is the lead analyst on the CPUC’s system-side renewable distributed generation programs for the Renewables Portfolio Standard program. Specifically, Jaclyn is responsible for implementing and administrating the Renewable Auction Mechanism, the small renewable generator feed-in tariff program, and the investor owned utility solar PV programs. Jaclyn is also responsible for identifying and addressing barriers to the renewable distributed generation market through the Renewable Distributed Energy Collaborative (Re-DEC). Market Assessment Representative: Shannon Graham, Associate Director, Navigant Consulting- Shannon Graham is an Associate Director with Navigant Consulting, Inc.’s (NCI) Renewable Energy group.  Ms. Graham helps clients make investment decisions in renewable energy, primarily in the area of solar photovolatics for distributed applications. Her clients include: leading renewable energy equipment manufacturers, global integrated oil companies, municipal and investor owned utilities, large industrials and investors considering entry into renewable energy, and leading state and federal agencies, such as the California Energy Commission and the U.S. Department of Energy. Ms. Graham holds an MBA from Haas (2003) and an MA from the Energy & Resources Group (2001).

Utility Representative: Jan Pepper, Electric Division Manager, Silicon Valley Power- JANIS C. PEPPER currently serves as the Electric Division Manager at Silicon Valley Power, the municipal utility serving the City of Santa Clara.   She is responsible for joint power agency coordination, energy resource procurement, legislative/regulatory action, and debt financing for the utility.  She has over 25 years of energy and utility experience, including positions at Alameda Municipal Power and PG&E, with a focus on renewable energy contracting and financing.  Ms. Pepper was the founder of 4 energy-related start-up companies, including APX and Clean Power Markets.  At APX, she pioneered the first use of renewable energy credits in wholesale power markets.  At Clean Power Markets, her company designed implemented the successful Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC) program for the State of New Jersey.  She teaches a course on energy each fall at Stanford University.  Ms. Pepper earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.B.A, both from Stanford University, and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of California.
