The Sacramento Regional Leadership Team of the Association of Women in Water, Energy and Environment (AWWEE) invites you to join them for an all day field trip. We will start with a morning tour of carbon sequestration and soil subsidence reversal projects on two islands in the Sacramento San Joaquin Delta, followed by an afternoon visit to the Army Corps of Engineers' Bay Model in Sausalito.

The Delta serves as a hub for California's two largest water systems in the state: the federal Central Valley Project and the State Water Project.  In addition to being a source of California's water supply and the intersection for transportation corridors, utilities, and recreation, the Delta is an ecological treasure. Plans for restoring and enhancing the Delta and assuring a continuing reliable supply of water is generating intense interest in Sacramento and throughout the State.

Join AWWEE for this two-part tour to see the Delta and learn about two on-going land-use studies on Twitchell and Sherman islands, followed by an opportunity to see the "big picture" at the Army Corps of Engineers' Bay Model in Sausalito, a three-dimensional hydraulic model capable of simulating tides and currents, covering over 1.5 acres in size.

We plan to leave by bus at 8:30 am and will likely return close to 5 pm.  Box lunches will be provided on the bus.
